Body found in burnt-out car in Murrindindi in state’s northeast

Human remains have been found in a burnt-out vehicle in bushland at Murrindindi in the state’s northeast.

Emergency services have converged on a burnt-out car containing a body in central Victorian bushland.

Police are on the scene after the remains were found in a vehicle at Murrundindi this evening.

State Emergency Service officers are assisting investigators at the site of the discovery, near the corner of Murrindindi and Camp Creek roads.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said: “It is believed a car caught fire in park grounds on Murrindindi Rd about 2.40pm.

“The fire was extinguished and an unidentified body was located in the vehicle.”

“The circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and an investigation is under way.”
