A Comanchero bikie involved in a wild brawl in Canberra last year has been refused bail over the part he played in a drive-by shooting.

The court heard his partner, who recently gave birth to the couple’s first child, has begged Robertson to turn his back on the bikie life.

But phone calls intercepted by police show Robertson has refused to do so.

In one phone call Robertson said: “Nothing you say will change my mind. You are asking me something I can’t do. I will be a Como til the day I die.”

It comes after footage of a brawl involving Robertson and dozens of other Comanchero bikies inside the Capital Men’s Club in Canberra on August 20 last year was released earlier this week.

Detective Leading Senior Constable Andrew Griffin, of the Echo taskforce, said Robertson puts his loyalty to the Comanchero above everything else in his life.

The court heard Robertson and Comanchero associate Jay St. Mart, 27, used a Toyota Camry in a shooting in Endeavour Hills.

The Toyota pulled up alongside a red Honda and three shots were fired.

Police know of no link between the victim, who was uninjured, and the bikies.

CCTV captured Robertson setting fire to the Toyota at an industrial estate in Hallam hours later before getting into another car, which was allegedly being driven by Mr St. Mart.

Robertson pleaded guilty to reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft of car, arson of car, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Paul Smallwood, representing Robertson, said the new father wanted bail so he could bond with his baby daughter.

“He is a physically strong man who can come across as hostile and aggressive,” Mr Smallwood said.

“Behind this facade is a 36-year-old man who has encountered a critical juncture in his life.”

Magistrate Susan Armour refused Robertson’s bail application.

He will appear at the County Court of Victoria on October 15.
