Becky Boston says she went into shock when long-time partner, Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins, proposed last week.
The pair will step out together for the first time as an engaged couple at tonight’s Australian Cricket Awards at Crown.
They announced their happy news last Wednesday.
“Pat surprised me with a picnic down in the country and I had absolutely no idea it was coming,’’ Boston said.
“I was a little bit suss when he pulled out the bottle of champagne. It was very romantic, he got down on one knee and I think I just went into shock and threw myself on him.
“We are so, so happy and have been overwhelmed by the love and kind words we have received from everyone.”
Ranked the world No.1 test bowler, Cummins was last year awarded Cricket Australia’s highest individual honour, the Allan Border Medal.
In December, Cummins became the most expensive foreign player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

“I am extremely proud of Pat,’’ she said.
“What he has achieved so far in his life is incredible. Obviously everyone knows what a great cricket player he is and sees how well he performs on the field, but it’s how he goes about everyday life that makes me the most proud.
“He just seems to do everything so calmly and unassumingly, without any fuss. And before you know it, he’s the number one bowler in the world!”
