Annika Smethurst wins Scoop of the Year at the Walkley Awards

HERALD Sun political journalist Annika Smethurst has been awarded “Scoop of the Year” at the 2017 Walkley Awards for excellence in Australian journalism.
Smethurst won the award for her series of articles which revealed former Health Minister Sussan Ley had charged taxpayers almost $40,000 for several trips to Queensland, among them a house-hunting visit to the Gold Coast.

This is the second time Smethurst has won the award, after taking home the gong in 2015 for her expose on the Bronwyn Bishop chopper scandal.
