MIDDLE-AGED HOONS HAVE LUXURY CARS IMPOUNDED

Rick Tippett has parked his caravan on the road in a bid to slow the speeders and said he won’t move it until traffic-calming measures are installed.

Mr Tippett said that, since the Dandenong Bypass opened in 2012, he had been asking Greater Dandenong Council and VicRoads to do something about the cars using Sunnyvale Cres in Keysborough as a cut-through.

“Nothing has happened. We have cars tearing through all the time,” he said.

“There’s a park where kids congregate near an S-bend in the street and it’s only a matter to time before one of them gets hit.

“I’ve been warned by the council that if I leave the caravan on the street I will be fined, but I’m not moving it until something is done about the hoons.”

Greater Dandenong Council engineering services director Julie Reid said data on speeds and the volume of traffic on Sunnyvale Cres meant it was a low priority for traffic-calming devices.
