A school in Melbourne’s southeast continues to be plagued by a hacker, now threatening further action a week after streaming porn to an all-school assembly.

A hacker has targeted a secondary school in Melbourne’s southeast for the third time, this time threatening to release teachers’ personal details to the public.

Staff at Alkira Secondary College have expressed security fears in the wake of the repeated attacks, and expressed concern that their personal information would be exposed.

In a newly created Instagram profile, the person said it will publish a teacher’s address once it reaches a specified amount of followers.

The unknown hacker, who last week streamed pornography to the Cranbourne North secondary school’s online assembly, used the school’s internal systems to email parents saying that principal had died from Covid in March.

Staff have told the Herald Sun police have been called in to assist the investigation, which has narrowed in on a prospective offender.

The Department of Education’s investigation into the pornography stream did not uncover the identity of the hacker before the new threat emerged online.

One teacher said: “It’s pretty full on. I’ve certainly not experienced something like this in my time as a teacher”.

“It’s still happening but apparently they’re (authorities) are getting close to acting on a person.”

The Department of Education launched its investigation into how the hacker was able to access the school’s internal systems last week after they streamed a sexually explicit clip in the middle of the Cranbourne North high school’s assembly.

Text followed the video, saying: “we are two steps ahead … you won’t catch us” on the screens of everyone who dialled into the assembly.

Acting principal Nalini Naidu addressed the cyber attacks in a letter to parents, offering support to students to had been exposed to the pornographic content.

A Department of Education spokesman said it was working with the college to determine who was behind the social media post.

It is understood the Department’s investigation into the previous cyber attacks are ongoing.

We are aware of an incident at Alkira Secondary College involving concerning social media posts,” the spokesman said.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students is of utmost priority and the Department is working with the college to determine how this, and previous online incidents, occurred.”

Victoria Police have been contacted for comment.
