ACCOMMODATION hosts have lashed out at Airbnb claiming the holiday rental site owes them thousands of unpaid dollars due to a recent banking error.
Dozens of frustrated hosts wrote on Airbnb’s community forum their payments had been cut, and slammed the site for its poor customer service.
It is believed the payment malfunction is due to the site experiencing issues with its Worldpay system in Australia.

Several hosts said they had received a payment error message and attempted to contact Airbnb in regards to the issue but got no response.
Host Paul had accepted a one-month booking for over $3,000 for his house in Ballarat and is yet to receive payment from the site.
“The biggest problem is they have not contacted any of the hosts,” he told the Herald Sun.
“There has been zero communication, which really makes you doubt the whole system.”
The issue could be affecting thousands of Airbnb hosts across the country.
Other hosts said the error was a major blow to their bank accounts.
Host Lisa said on the forum the payment error had made her lose confidence in the site.
“The real issue here is the loss of confidence we as hosts now have through how poorly this was handled,” she said.
“Some reassurance from Airbnb would have gone a long way to mitigating this issue.
“We, like everyone else, have mortgages and bills to pay.”
An Airbnb spokesperson said the company was working to fix issue.
“We’re aware of a payout hiccup impacting some of our Airbnb hosts in Australia, and have been working to remedy it.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and want our hosts to know they’ll be receiving a note from us shortly with instructions for a quick and easy fix.”
