Of all the things you don’t want to find in your Maccas meal, this might just top the list.
Geelong region man Brendan Prpic purchased a large, grand Angus burger from McDonald’s in Leopold on Wednesday of this week - and got an extra dose of protein on the side.
Along with the extra cheese, extra patty and bacon he ordered, there was a nasty surprise hiding in the bun - a beetle.
A horrified Mr Prpic returned his beetle bun burger to the McDonald’s outlet about 5.30pm on the same day.
He said he hoped and believed the beetle was dead.
“I kindly asked to speak to the manager and she said she had never seen it before,” he told the Herald Sun.
Mr Prpic was offered a refund or a replacement and was told an investigation would be conducted.
Mr Prpic, who posted a photo of the beetle burger on social media, said he was now turned off Maccas, a former favourite meal.
“I’m a bit put off all food now to be honest,” Mr Prpic said.
And he won’t be eating at Maccas anytime soon.
“Which is a shame,” he said.
“Because I usually add extra patties and a heap of cheese and bacon,” Mr Prpic said.
“But now I’m a bit suss on how all food is processed, how things are stored.”
A McDonald’s Australia spokesperson confirmed the Leopold beetle burger incident and said Mr Prpic had been given a full refund.
An investigation was also underway.
“McDonald’s takes food and drink safety extremely seriously,” the spokesperson said.
“Our restaurants follow strict cleaning, hygiene, product inspection and preparation processes to ensure the quality of our food. We have offered the customer a full refund and are working with the restaurant to investigate this further.”
