Police are working to identify a person found dead at the scene of a house fire in Melbourne’s east.

A PERSON has died in a blaze that gutted a Glen Waverley home on Saturday morning.
Emergency crews found the body of a person who was believed to be living at the home on Vermont St house about 6.30am.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the home was fully engulfed by flames before fire crews found the body inside.
The victim was yet to be formally identified on Saturday night, and their age and gender remained unclear.
Arson Squad detectives and a fire investigator probed the fatal blaze on Saturday morning.
They will work to determine the cause of the fire, which was not being treated as suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
