Boy crushed by sandcastle at Point Lonsdale beach
A high school aged boy was injured after being toppled by sandcastle at a popular Bellarine Peninsula beach.

A boy has been rescued after a sandcastle collapsed on him at a popular Victorian beach.
Ambulance Victoria was called to an incident in Point Lonsdale about 3.30pm on Sunday.
The exact circumstances of the sandcastle collapse are unclear but it is understood a high school aged boy was involved.

“The boy was taken to Geelong University Hospital in a stable condition with lower body injuries,” an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.
3AW’s Rumour File reported the boy needed to be dug out of the sand in the delicate rescue operation.
The sandcastle rescue comes as Victorians were urged to be careful around waterways in summer, as 42 people have drowned since July 1 last year.
On Monday, a 20-year-old Ashwood woman’s body was recovered in Altona after she had disappeared while snorkelling on Saturday afternoon.
