A 16-year-old boy has been arrested over the stabbing death of 40-year-old Papua New Guinea-born musician Thomas at Ascot Vale on Sunday.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested over the stabbing death of a man at Ascot Vale.
Homicide squad detectives arrested the boy in Carlton on Wednesday morning in connection with the death of a 40-year-old local man known as Thomas.
He was detained with the assistance of the fugitive squad at 10.45am and will be questioned over Sunday’s horrific attack.
The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment of an existing hand injury.
It is unclear whether that injury is linked to the fatal events at the corner of Maribyrnong and Union roads.
He is the second teen arrested, following the arrest of an 18-year-old male shortly after the incident.
Alambs Mohmmed faces counts of intentionally causing injury, affray, escaping custody and theft.
Locals recalled Thomas as a passionate musician who was known to busk in the CBD.
He had come to Australia from Papua New Guinea at age six.
Thomas died in hospital from injuries suffered in an attack at 3.45pm Sunday.
