Changes on the cards for the poorly performing SEN Breakfast team

RADIO trade season is off and running with changes on the cards for the poorly performing SEN breakfast team with Hamish McLachlan set to exit at the end of the year.

RADIO trades have started early this season with Hamish McLachlan to exit the poor performing SEN Breakfast show at the end of the year.

The Channel 7 presenter signed a one-year deal with the show this year and will not be seeking a contract extension.

Instead, he is set to focus on his TV commitments in 2018, which are expected to go into overdrive given Seven’s extensive slate of major sports coverage.

McLachlan’s SEN co-host Tim Watson confirmed on Friday he would be sticking with the pricey but poorly performing show next year.

The show, hosted by Watson, McLachlan and Garry Lyon rated a miserable 3.1 in the most recent radio survey.

The tiny figure was an improvement of 0.5 from the previous survey, but still left breakfast as SEN’s lowest performing timeslot — a problem considering it is without doubt the most marketed and promoted show on the SEN roster.

“I will be still doing SEN breakfast next year,” Watson said.

“We are all happy with the way it (the show) has gone.”

Speaking at the Wynn’s Coonawarra Estate Father’s Day lunch at Crown, Watson revealed his passion for winemaking, having recently produced the first vintage of his own blend of Fiano grapes.

The Seven sports presenter said the vintage ran to just a handful of bottles but he was thrilled with the result.

Following the lunch, he had a tasting of his drop with Wynn’s Coonawarra Estate winemaker Sue Hodder to glean some expert tips.
