A traumatised older woman is the latest victim of a violent, well-orchestrated carjacking by out-of-control youths in Townsville.
“Around 5am, a woman was driving her Mercedes Benz sedan on Ross River Road when three stolen vehicles manoeuvred around her to stop her,” a Townsville Police spokesperson said on Thursday afternoon.
The spokeswoman said the victim, a 59-year-old woman, was verbally threatened and forced to surrender her vehicle after the youths approached her and smashed the driver’s side window.
She said the victim was not physically injured.
“The Mercedes was located abandoned on Bayswater Road at Mount Louisa around 7am today,” she said.
“A crime scene was declared, and CIB are investigating.”
Queensland Police Service (QPS) are appealing for witnesses or dash-cam footage from the vicinity of the incident in Mundingburra and the abandoned vehicle in Mount Louisa.
