Townsville’s only five-star hotel, Ardo, is celebrating its first anniversary with discount room rates and a DJ.
From now until February 2 the seaside hotel is offering 25 per cent off their best available rate - which works out to rooms starting at $177 per night.
The birthday months will culminate in a rooftop party on February 1 with Y.O.G.A (Reuben Styles, one-half of Peking Duk) at the DJ booth
Since the hotel started trading in the shadow of Cyclone Kirrily last year, Ardo has welcomed close to 49,000 guests and injected an estimated $120m into the local economy.
Ardo general manager Brent Clark of the 49,000 guests, 41 per cent were from outside North Queensland.
“The hotel is getting into that high 85 per cent occupancy rate now and its bringing a new demographic to Townsville,” Mr Clark said.
Ardo CEO Tim Richardson said word of mouth is steadily spreading about Ardo, but it’s still “the best kept secret” of Townsville.
“The most rewarding part of the job is when you come up to the rooftop and you meet people who’ve spent the day over at Magnetic Island and they discover Ardo and are amazed, because they didn’t know something like this was here,” Mr Richardson said.
“It’s just the best kept secret, and once people come here to Townsville and visit The Strand, Maggie and Ardo they always come back.”
Ardo boosts 132 rooms, two restaurants, one rooftop bar, a pool, a spa, and more.
