Adorable Tiktok star Poppy named as Townsville’s cutest dog

She has more views on social media than most of our readers and she’s only four months old. Meet Poppy, the winner of our search for Townsville’s cutest dog.

After a lengthy voting period with hundreds of votes cast and over a hundred cute pooches submitted as candidates for the title of Townsville’s Cutest Dog, the search is finally over.

Adorable little pup Poppy soared through the first round of voting and was ultimately crowned the overall winner after the Townsville community made their voices heard.

Poppy’s owner Moara Sam said she was surprised to see her lively dachshund get the nod.

The tiny pup is only four months old, but has been brightening up Moara and her partner’s home for nearly three months.

“My partner doesn’t like big dogs, and I have always loved daschunds, so I convinced him and we just saw her and couldn’t say no,” Moara said.

Despite the initial reluctance, Moara’s partner has quickly come to share the community’s love for adorable little Poppy.

“He tells me everyday how much he loves her and she’s become his absolute best friend.”

The couple were blown away upon finding out that their tiny best friend had won through to the finals.

“It was definitely a surprise, but we always knew she was cute, so it was a nice bit of validation,” Moara said.

“We’ve brought her a few presents to celebrate, we got her some nice new clothes and pieces of apparel.”

While Moara was quick to thank family and friends for voting for Poppy, it’s not the dog’s first brush with the limelight.

“When we got her, I made a tiktok account and it’s really gone off. One of her videos we put up has over a million views.”
