A teenage boy has been charged over a crash in a quiet Townsville suburb which killed a 34-year-old father.
The 17-year-old Black River boy has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, mid-range drink driving, late night driving of peer passengers and driving a defective vehicle.
The boy and his two female passengers were uninjured in the incident.
He will appear before Townsville Childrens Court at a later date.
At 4am on October 30, police were called to a crash on Dartmoor Drive and Dunlop St, Kelso after a man was struck by a vehicle.
The man was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition but died four days later as a result of his injuries.
The man was identified as Eagleby man Michael Riggs.
Riggs was a father of five and had been visiting family in Townsville at the time.
