The pregnant partner of a “one of a kind” dad who died in hospital after being hit by a car in Kelso has opened up about the heartache his death has left behind.
Eagleby man Michael Riggs, 34, was hit by a car in Kelso near the intersection of Dartmoor Drive and Dunlop St at about 4am on Sunday.
He was rushed to Townsville University Hospital in serious condition, but four days later, he tragically died from his injuries late on Thursday.
A male driver and two female passengers inside the car were reportedly uninjured in the crash.
It’s understood Mr Riggs — a father of five — had been in Townsville visiting family at the time of the tragic incident.
Tributes have flowed from family and friends on social media since his death, with Mr Riggs remembered as ”one of a kind.”
His partner Tiarna Rade said they had two children together, and she was currently pregnant with their third.
“It is very devastating losing Michael, knowing he left this world so young and left five children and our unborn child,” she said.
“Michael is very friendly to everyone he met he made laugh even when he was being honest.”
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
