This season the NT News sports team will run the rule over the DDCC senior competition, selecting our top individual performers from the round that was. See who made the cut.

From maiden tons in the Women’s competition to six-fa’s and huge tons, the past weekend of Darwin and District Cricket Competition was full on.

Sophia Di Venuto (Women’s Div. 1, Nightcliff): The bowler recorded figures of 4/13 off four overs, bowling one maiden.

Kate Sherriff (Women’s Div. 1, Nightcliff): Atop the order, Sherriff smashed an unbelievable 101* runs off just 57 deliveries. She hit 17 boundaries and one maximum.

Hannah Armstrong (Women’s Div. 1, Districts): The captain scored 68 runs from 63 balls, hitting 10 fours.

Rachel Andrew (Women’s Div. 1, Districts): 58 runs off 41 deliveries, hitting nine fours.

Alice Caldow (Women’s Div. 1, Waratah): 42* runs off 55 balls.

Jessica Shahu (Women’s Div. 2, Darwin): 56* runs off 56 deliveries.

Pavankumar Menugonda (B-grade, Tracy): 56 runs from 71 balls.

Cameron Moon (B-grade, Districts): 4/32 off eight overs, one maiden.

Ali Hassan (B-grade, PINT): 81 runs from 67 deliveries, 15 fours.

Rohan Philip (B-grade, Nightcliff): 53 runs off 50 deliveries, making seven fours and one six.

Tom Foley (B-grade, Nightcliff): 73 runs from 107 deliveries.

Tannum Jones-Materne (C-grade, Districts): The keeper too four catches behind the stumps.

Sujan Kharel (C-grade, Darwin): Took figures of 6/14 off 4.4 overs.

George Wilks (C-grade, Nightcliff): 59 runs from 60 balls, eight fours.

Alen Jose (C-grade, PINT): 4/26 from 7.5 overs, one maiden, as well as 51* runs from 55 balls.

Dylan Hancock (C-grade, Waratah): The middle order made 85* runs from 90 deliveries.

David Sinclair (C-grade, Tracy): The villager recorded figures of 4/21 off eight overs, bowling one maiden.

Rhys Lavercombe (D-grade, Palmerston): Took 5/10 from seven overs bowling two maidens as well as scoring 32* runs with the bat at number seven off 32 balls.

Jack Clayton (D-grade, Palmerston): 61 runs off 87 balls and a wicket.

Olivia McSweeney (D-grade, Palmerston): The WA female representative took 4/5 off 3.1 overs, bowling one maiden. She also took two catches. She then scored 24 runs off 31 balls at number five.

Harley Eagleston (D-grade, Palmerston): 54 runs off 86 balls.

Thenuka Jayasekara (D-grade, Tracy): At number nine, the Villager fell shy of a ton with 98 runs off 49 balls. He slogged 10 fours and nine sixes. He also took figures of 1/25.

Chris Garth (D-grade, Waratah): 4/23 off eight overs, two maidens.

Bibek Khadka (D-grade, Waratah): 82* runs from 51 balls, hitting 14 fours and four sixes.

Warwick Peter-Budge (D-grade, Districts): 52* runs off 43 balls, retired not out.

Chris Elliott (D-grade, Darwin): 84 runs off 73 balls.

Lava kumar Bollineni (D-grade, Nightcliff): 51 runs off 55 balls.

Joshua Gawthrope (Sunday 1, Districts/Palmerston): 62 runs off 54 deliveries.

Riwaj Sapkota (Sunday 1, Waratah University): 4/34 from eight overs.

Jai Allman (Sunday 1, Nightcliff): 55 runs off 78 deliveries.

Janu Varatharajan (Sunday 1, Tracy): 43 runs off 22 balls and 6/15 from four overs.

Alice Caldow (Sunday 1, Waratah): The Women’s Div. 1 player took 5/29 from eight overs, bowling one maiden.

Jarif Kamal (Sunday 2, Waratah): The number three hit 151* runs off 123 deliveries, making 17 fours.

Mostofa Mahin (Sunday 2, Waratah): The Warrior, batting with Kamal, scored 108 runs off 74 balls, smacking 16 fours and a six.

Minhaj Uddin Ridoy (Sunday 2, Waratah): 4/11 from five overs at 2.2.

Mihira Disanayake (Sunday 2, Waratah): 77 runs off 59 deliveries, 1 fours and two sixes. Plus, 3/16 from eight overs.

Pradeep Patel (Sunday 2, Districts): 4/33 from eight overs, two maidens.

Anav Bhandari (Sunday 2, Tracy): 5/22 from 6.5 overs, one maiden.

Allan Trindle (Sunday 2, Darwin): 64 runs off 79 balls, and 3/27 from 7.1 overs.

Sarfraz Khan (Sunday 2, Tracy): 4/45 from seven overs, one maiden.

Fahad Khan (Sunday 2, Tracy): 75 runs off 48 balls, 12 fours.

Mariyatharsha Shanthakumar (Sunday 2, PINT): 64 runs off 66 deliveries, eight fours, two maximums. He also took 2/46 from six overs.

Craig Windebank (Sunday 3, Districts): 50* runs off 53 balls, retired not out.

Akeesa Weerasinghe (U12, Waratah): 4/14 from four overs.

Rithun Ramanan (U15, Waratah): 56* runs off 40 balls, retired not out, 10 fours.

Tye Jennings (U15, Waratah): 2/10 from two overs and 34* runs off 23 balls.

Janke Mundy (B-grade, Darwin): The opener scored 107 runs off 100 balls, hitting eight fours and as many sixes. Mundy also recorded 1/10 off 1.1 overs and two catches.

Xavier Norman: (B-grade, Darwin): Norman scored 68 runs from 72 deliveries at number five, hitting four fours and four sixes. He also took 2/38 off eight overs.

Josh Cooper (B-grade, Waratah): 52 runs off 61 balls, two fours, one six and two wicket keeper catches.

Prince Handa (B-grade, PINT): 55 runs off 44 balls, nine fours.

Zach Cluff (Districts, B-grade): 4/15 off eight overs, two maidens.

April 21, 2025

Matthew St Clair (B-grade, Districts): The youngster took 3/20 off his eight overs, going at 2.85. He also took two catches.

Amit Saini (B-grade, PINT): Saini took unbelievable figures of 5/12 in his 6.5 over spell, bowling two maidens to go at 1.75.

Tom Foley (B-grade, Nightcliff): Doing a bit of everything for his side, Foley hit 37 runs off 33 deliveries in the first inning before taking 1/33 off his six overs and three catches in the second.

Marko Martino (B-grade, Darwin): The Eagle clearly took inspiration from Saini the inning earlier, as he took 4/16 off just five overs. He bowled one maiden, went at 3.20 and took a catch.

Rohan Phillip (B-grade, Nightcliff): The opener top scored in the clash against Districts, scoring 41 runs from 57 deliveries, hitting three fours and one six.

David Howe (B-grade, Darwin): Backing up Martino’s efforts at the other end, Howe took 3/23 off his five overs.

Tom Ryan (B-grade, Nightcliff): Ryan did his best for the Tigers taking 3/22 off his seven overs, in which he bowled one maiden, and recorded a run-out assist.

Levi French (U18, Waratah): The teenager had the Kookaburra on a string against PINT, taking 3/6 off his four overs, going at 1.50.

Benjamin Koefoed (U18, Waratah): At number four the Warrior was impressive with the willow, making 30* runs off 20 deliveries before being retired not out. He hit four boundaries and one six. In the field, he took made one run-out and assisted another.

Owen Ferguson (U18, Palmerston): A man on a mission, Ferguson was the star of the show in Palmerston’s thumping victory over the Eagles. The youngster first took 3/13 off his four overs, bowling one maiden, as well as taking catch, before he put on the pads and hit 32* runs off 20 deliveries before retiring not out, making three fours and one six.

April 14, 2025

Julie Page (Women’s Div 1, Waratah): Batting in the middle order Page scored 34* runs off 30 balls, and hit two fours.

Melissa Campbell (Women’s Div 1, Waratah): The captain was solid atop the order, hitting 31* runs off 33 deliveries, with two fours, Campbell also took a run-out in the first inning.

Jordi O’Toole (Women’s Div 1, PINT): The bowler recorded figures of 3/24 off of four overs.

Eliza Jagger (Women’s Div 1, Tracy Village): One shy of a milestone, the number three scored 49 runs from 31 deliveries, hitting six boundaries.

Krystelle Jones (Women’s Div 1, Tracy Village): Like Jagger, Jones was one shy of 50 runs, making 49* off 41 balls, with two fours and a maximum.

Daniel Fett (B-grade, Palmerston): The opener fell just short of triple figures, making 97 runs off 106 deliveries, with 10 fours.

Andrew Somerville (B-grade, Palmerston): The captain made 44 runs off 24 deliveries at number three with four boundaries and two sixes.

Ayden Allan (B-grade, Palmerston): Allan took the terrific figures of 4/12 off his 2.4 overs, plus made two catches, as well as hitting 31* runs off 33 deliveries at number four.

Awais Mahmood (C-grade, Waratah): At number seven, Mahmood scored 31* runs from 42 balls, making three fours and a six. He also took 2/18 off five overs with the ball.

Muhammad Owais Qureshi (D-grade, Tracy Village): Opening the batting, Qureshi scored 84 runs off 101 deliveries, hitting nine fours.

Anav Bhandari (D-grade, Tracy Village): The Villager ripped through Palmerston’s line-up taking 5/12 off seven overs, and bowled one maiden.

Todd Pemble (D-grade, Southern Districts): The Croc was brilliant with the Kookaburra, taking 5/14 from his seven overs in which he bowled one maiden.

Jay Munday (D-grade, Southern Districts Black): Munday was also on fire for the Crocs taking 4/15 off his seven overs where he too bowled a maiden.

Rhonan Appleby (Sunday 1, Waratah Warriors): The opener hit a steady 73 runs off 71 balls, making five boundaries and four sixes.

Archit Bhatia (Sunday 1, Waratah Warriors): The Tahs other opener also scored big, hitting 86 runs from 85 balls with five fours and four sixes.

Angus Campbell (Sunday 1, Waratah Warriors): Like his openers, Campbell had a day out, making 80 runs off 61 deliveries, hitting six fours and three sixes.

Rohit Adhikari (Sunday 1, Waratah Warriors University): Adhikari took figures of 4/25 off his six overs.

Jashandeep Singh Saini (Sunday 2, PINT): Putting together the performance of the round Saini made 144 runs off 99 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and seven sixes.

Jaspreet Gill(Sunday 2, PINT): Gill hit 66* runs off 79 balls before retiring not out.

Manmeet Singh (Sunday 2, PINT): The bowler took figures of 4/31 off his eight overs, bowling one maiden.

Saqlain Nawaz (Sunday 2, Tracy Village): At number seven, Nawaz scored 69 runs from 40 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries and three sixes.

Liam Durie (Sunday 2, Darwin): The Eagle took figures of 4/20 off seven overs, bowling one maiden, and took one catch.

Sahil Sharma (Sunday 2, Tracy Village): Batting number five, the Villager made 104 runs from 87 deliveries, hitting nine boundaries and four sixes.

Darshan Thakkar (Sunday 2, Palmerston): The opener smacked 58* runs off 26 balls, hitting seven fours and four maximums.

Kiran Pathak (Sunday 2, Waratah Warriors University): Pathak took 4/23 off his 4.3 overs.

Chandana Chi Perera (Sunday 3, Waratah): The Tah skittled Tracy Village’s line-up recording 5/8 off five overs, bowling one maiden.

Murray Crawford (Sunday 3, Darwin): Crawfor took 4/24 from his six overs.

Craig Windebank (Sunday 3, Southern Districts): The Croc was on song, recording figures of 4/12 off his four overs.
