Tasmanian man accused of trout sex video enters plea in court

A couple accused of being involved in the alleged graphic sex trout video went before the court with one entering his plea.

The man accused of filming and sharing a viral video of an alleged sex act with a live brown trout has pleaded not guilty to charges in a Hobart court on Friday.

Ashley David Hallam, 55, appeared again in the Hobart Magistrates Court in front of Magistrate Marica Duvnjak, while Catherine June Lee, 58, appeared via telephone.

Mr Hallam has entered pleas of not guilty to one count of possessing a bestiality product and one count of making or reproducing a bestiality product.

Prosecution withdrew two of his other charges of possessing a bestiality product and one count of making or reproducing a bestiality product as “duplicate charges”.

One count of possessing a bestiality product and making or reproducing a bestiality product was also withdrawn by prosecution against Ms Lee.

Her lawyer asked for a further adjournment on the remaining charge of making or reproducing, which she has not yet entered a plea for.

Police allege that Mr Hallam used a live trout to perform a sexual act on Ms Lee while filming and sharing the incident between February 1, 2022 and January 25, 2023.

The pair will return to court on January 15 for mention.
