St Kilda restaurant Lau’s Family Kitchen is closing after 15 years

The popular Chinese restaurant on Acland St announced it would shut by the end of March when its lease ends.

In a message on Instagram on Tuesday, the venue said: “Dear friends, we regret to inform you that we have decided to close the restaurant at the end of March due to end of lease. Lau’s Family Kitchen could not have been as successful without your support. We thank you for 15 wonderful years.”

The announcement was met with sadness from loyal customers.

MasterChef Australia judge Melissa Leong commented: “Thank you for many great meals over the years”.

Lib Mac wrote on the post: “You guys have been a very important part of many of our family occasions. We will miss you so much and will treasure the memories we created over your amazing food and hospitality.”

The restaurant, founded by Flower Drum’s Gilbert Lau, has featured in many top restaurant lists over the years.
