AN elite private girls school in Melbourne has mistakenly sent academic results to the wrong students, leading to confidential data being posted on Instagram and Snapchat.
Dozens of families at Methodist Ladies College in Kew this week received the private NAPLAN results of other students.
In a leaked email seen by the Herald Sun, Principal Diana Vernon apologised for the stuff up.

“I sincerely apologise for this error and want to reassure you that we take this issue very seriously,” she said.
“We now understand that this mistake was the consequence of a problem with the mail merge, which resulted in data being sorted incorrectly.”
The leaked email said advice had been sought from The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
It also advised a second round of NAPLAN results would be sent through to the school, so correct reports could be reissued.
The error impacted dozens of students in year nine.
It is understood students were posting others’ confidential academic results to social media platforms, including Instagram and Snapchat.
A year nine MLC student, who wished to remain anonymous, said the school had “messed up”.
“Of course we are forced to do it, under complete confidentiality,” the student said.
“Yet, my school has messed up all of the year nine results, and has sent ALL of them out to the whole year level.
“The catch however, they aren’t ours.”
In another leaked email seen by The Herald Sun, Alma Tooke — MLC’s Director of Curriculum and Learning — said there had been an “error” with NAPLAN results.
“The mail merge for the NAPLAN results did not process correctly and you may have inadvertently received the incorrect results,” the email said.
“If you do have the incorrect printout, we would ask that you keep what you see confidential and ask that you return the envelope to the Middle School Office.”
The school charges more than $31,000 for school fees for year 12 students.
The school was contacted for comment, but did not respond.
