THE SECRET TO GETTING A JOB AFTER UNI

In a partnership with La Trobe University, students will hear guest lectures from Carlton greats Chris Judd and Stephen Silvagni, and AFLW captain Brianna Davey, who will teach them everything from running the business, to talent identification, anatomy, media and marketing.

“I think it’s really cool and for me, I wish I had something like this when I was deciding what to do after school,” said Davey, who will teach students about the sport from an athlete’s perspective.

Carlton fan and student Natasha Versace, 18, was “thrilled” to learn from her heroes.

“You get that experience, they tell you what they faced on the other side of the field,” she said, after admitting she might have a “fan girl moment” during the lecture from superstar veteran Judd.

Carlton chief executive Cain Liddle, who set up a similar program at Richmond with Swinburne, said football clubs were the perfect places to run sports education programs given their breath of experience, facilities and access to talent.

“When you think about it, you wonder why they haven’t done this earlier,” he said.

“I have no doubt in my mind that this will be really successful.”

Applications for the 2019 intake close on March 4.
