Truck driver narrowly avoids major injuries after windscreen impaled by tree branch

A truck driver is lucky to be alive after crashing into a tree, with a tree branch impaling the driver’s side of the windscreen.

Just before 6am on Saturday, emergency services were called to a crash on the Dukes Highway just west of Bordertown after reports a truck had collided with a tree.

A large branch of the tree became impaled in the windscreen, but the driver managed to escape without any major injuries.

The 62-year-old man was taken to the Bordertown Hospital.

Following the incident, SA Police are urging all motorists to take care on the roads and to drive to conditions.
