A young female motorist has told of her terror as two shirtless balaclava-clad men, one armed with a knife, tried to stop her car as she was driving home to Blackwood.

The 21-year-old told police the incident occurred on the Old Belair Rd at about 11.30pm on Thursday.

She said that one of the men, who was clutching a knife at his side, ran onto the road from a parked car – where a second man was waiting – and tried to get her to stop.

“I was terrified … he just came out of nowhere. I didn’t stop. I just sped up and got away,” she said.

“Both men were wearing football shorts and black ski-masks – and their car was parked in an alcove about 300m south of the Mitcham General Cemetery.”

Patrol cars searched the area but failed to find any trace of the two men.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
