South Australian pastry brand Vili’s will make its debut at Adelaide Oval in 2025 as a host of game day favourites drop in price – but footy fans will have to fork out more for beer, hot chips and water.
Vili’s pies, pastries and sausage rolls will replace Balfour’s for the new AFL season, with each item priced at $5, down 12 per cent from $5.70 last year. They sold for $6.10 during cricket season.
Nippy’s flavoured juices and Fleurieu Milk Company flavoured milks have also been reduced to $5 from $6.90 as part of the Oval’s new SA Brands for SA Fans initiative.
But the cost of other beverages and selected food items have risen for a fourth straight season.
A pint of full-strength West End beer will set fans back $10.90 (up from $9.90), a house wine is now $10.50 (up $1.50), a 600ml bottle of water is now $5.70 (up from $5.40) and soft drinks will be $7.20 (up from $6.80).
The price of a bucket of hot chips is also up 25 cents from last season to $6.95, while a small coffee will now cost supporters $5.95, an extra 25 cents.
Healthier food options such as salads ($12.90 down from $15.50) and paninis ($13.50 down from $14.50) have both dropped in price for the new season.
In comparison, Victorian footy fans this year will pay $6.20 for a Four n Twenty pie, $6 for a hot dog, $5.50 for a coffee and $6.20 for hot chips – the same as 2024 prices.
The cost of a standard 425ml beer is also set to rise from $11.50 to $12 at the MCG, with Adelaide Oval retaining its title of the cheapest pint of full-strength beer in the country.
Oval chief executive Nick Addison said they aimed to serve up the best food and beverages at the “best price possible”.
“This year we considered the family-friendly nature of Adelaide Oval’s AFL fixture and came up with a $5 deal that we know families will love,” he said.
Vili’s national sales manager Ben McDonnell said he hoped more fans would choose local at the footy.
“Every product stocked at Adelaide Oval will be made fresh to order, so footy fans are getting the absolute best quality pies and pastries that South Australia has to offer – at an almost unheard-of price.”
Several new pre-mixed alcoholic drinks will be available for the first time this year, including South Ave seltzers, 23rd Street Distillery gins, Hard Rated and Brookvale Union ginger beers.
