‘True Italian flavours’: Adelaide’s Est Ovest makes the top 50 pizzeria list

A pizza restaurant in Adelaide city has become the first in the state to make a coveted global list, recognised for its “true Italian flavours”.

Adelaide’s self-titled “top pizza spot in SA” has hit the world stage, celebrated among the top 50 Asia Pacific pizzerias.

Est Ovest on Angas St is the first South Australian pizzeria to make the world renowned 50 Top Pizza list, adding weight to their long claims of being the best pizzeria in SA.

Celebrating Tuesday’s announcement, Est Ovest shared the important role every customer had on bringing the recognition to fruition.

“This award is the result of years of dedication and incredible teamwork,” the Instagram post said.

“It didn’t come easy, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the people behind the scenes.

“Most importantly, thank you. You might not think you played a part in this, but you did.

“Every time you support a local business, you help put us on the map.”

The restaurant was heralded by judges for its rediscovery of “true Italian flavours”.

“The dishes from each section take you on a little taste journey through the Bel Paese, as well as paying homage to the Italian immigrants who arrived here in the early 20th century,” the judges’ comments said.

“The very warm and welcoming atmosphere is rich in Italian graphic references, recalled in vintage posters dedicated to great Italian products.”

In total 10 Australian pizzerias made the top 50 list, making it the highest represented country among participants, followed by Japan with nine and China with 6.
