Olympic gold medallist Madi Wilson shares wedding photos with Adelaide Strikers husband Matt Short

An Adelaide-based Olympic gold medallist has shared the first photos from her wedding to her Adelaide Strikers beau.
Olympic gold medallist Madi Wilson OAM announced she had married partner Matt Short in a series of Instagram posts on Sunday morning.
Both shared on her Instagram story, Madi shared two moments from the pair’s wedding day, understood to have taken place on Saturday.
The first shows the pair cuddling while taking photos at a beach at sunset captioned simply with “Married..”, while the second shows a different dress surrounded by white flowers.
The Adelaide-based couple announced their engagement in October 2023, and then in February 2024 revealed they were expecting their first child.
In August last year, they welcomed baby boy Austin Wilson Short just months before Wilson announced her retirement from swimming.
The new parents were inundated with messages of congratulations from family and friends, including Wilson’s superstar swimming teammate Ariarne Titmus, and cricket players such as Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch and Peter Siddle.
Wilson, who previously dated swimmer Kyle Chalmers, has won two gold medals as a member of the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team, at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In January this year, Wilson announced her retirement on Instagram, and said it was hard to put into words how she felt about retiring from a sport that had dominated her life for nearly 20 years.
“Swimming has been the biggest part of my life and my identity for the better part of nearly two decades,” she said on Instagram.
“It’s been the most incredible yet challenging and rewarding journey and I feel incredibly proud of the woman I’ve become and what I achieved throughout my time representing Australia.”
