Friends and loved ones have been asked to wear a “splash of colour” to celebrate the life of an Adelaide man who drowned in Bali on his honeymoon last month.
Wife Kimberley Fuller posted a notice to her social media this week, inviting those who “knew and loved” Jacob Vennix to attend his funeral service later this month.
“The family would love for you to wear a splash of colour in remembrance of Jacob, if possible,” the notice said.
Mr Vennix, who would have turned 33 today, died after being dragged out to sea by a strong current while swimming at the estuary at Pasut Beach in Tabanan Regency on December 30.
Ms Fuller attempted CPR but was unable to save him.
Ms Fuller, 38, described her husband as “the most beautiful man” who cared for many people.
“He was the most beautiful human, partner and father. All he wanted was to marry me and love and look after me and the boys,” she said in an earlier tribute.
“I will make sure the boys know what an angel he was. Now an angel in heaven.”
Ms Fuller’s sister Claire Brown has since organised a GoFundMe page to help raise financial support for the grieving family.
More than $48,500 has been raised so far.
Ms Fuller said the funds will help bring Mr Vennix home and cover his funeral expenses.
“I thought I booked travel insurance but I didn’t and his life insurance lapsed so the money is greatly appreciated to help ease the pressure adjusting to life as a single mum with a mortgage,” she wrote.
She said she was also planning to purchase and donate a defibrillator to Tabanan Public Hospital, where Mr Vennix was treated.
Mr Vennix’s funeral will be held on January 20 at Enfield Memorial Park.
