‘I was not there to hurt anyone’: Teen boy speaks of terrifying ordeal after knife fight at Elizabeth Shopping Centre

A teenager who was viciously stabbed at a northern suburbs shopping centre has told of the horrifying knife fight that left him in hospital.

A teenager who was viciously stabbed at Elizabeth Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon, has told of the horrifying knife fight that left him in hospital.

Speaking to 7News inside his hospital room with his brother, the 18-year-old victim was getting food at the northern suburbs shopping centre, when he was stabbed in the torso by the alleged attacker.

The victim said he managed to disarm his alleged attacker, but claimed he had a second knife.

He said that he had no intention of starting a fight, during his trip to the shopping centre.

“I was not there to hurt anyone, I picked that knife up to defend myself”.

In a social media post from the victim’s account, he posted a picture of himself along with a caption “don’t want anyone to worry about me, I’m fine”.

The victim was taken to The Royal Adelaide Hospital where he is recovering after sustaining serious injuries that required emergency surgery, including a blood transfusion.

A 14-year-old boy of Elizabeth Vale, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via video link in the Adelaide Youth Court on Thursday, over the incident.

The Year 9 student was charged alongside two other teen boys – a 17-year-old from Salisbury East and a 16-year-old of Brahma Lodge – who also appeared in court on Thursday.

The 14-year-old boy has been charged with affray while the 17-year-old has also been charged with one count each of causing serious harm to another with intent, affray and breaching bail. He did not apply for bail.

The 16-year-old was charged with affray and causing serious harm with intent, and did not apply for bail.
