Campbelltown man, 31, dies after crashing into tree on Main North Rd at Brahma Lodge

A 31-year-old Campbelltown man has died after crashing his Mitsubishi SUV into a tree on a busy northern suburbs road.

A Campbelltown man has died after slamming his SUV into a tree on Main North Rd at Brahma Lodge.

The red Mitsubishi struck a large gum tree on the medium strip, between the north and southbound lanes of the busy thoroughfare, just after 8am. The 31-year-old driver died at the scene.

One passer-by told The Advertiser they heard the collision and the scene was “horrific”.

The road was closed to northbound traffic for some time with Major Crash detectives on the scene but has since reopened.

“I truly hope that the police, MFS and ambulance take some time after this, it was horrific to see,” a social media user said.

A woman who lives in a house just metres from the crash said she was shocked at the of debris on the road.

She said she was home at the time of the crash but did not hear the incident.

“We hear little accidents all the time out (on the road), I’m surprised I didn’t hear it,” she said.

“It’s just absolutely horrible.”

The man’s death is the 14th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year, compared to 24 at the same time last year.

It comes as police investigate another serious crash, at nearby Golden Grove, which happened at the intersection of Atlantis Drive and The Grove Way just after 12pm.
