South Australian actor Teresa Palmer has put up her stunning Adelaide Hills “sanctuary” for sale in a move that marks an “ending of this era” for the Hollywood star.
The three-bedroom Scott Creek home sits on 4ha and features an infinity edge pool and spa, playground and “enchanting pockets of native bushland”, according to its realestate.com.au listing.
With strong early interest and a price in the high $1m range, about 60 people toured the property on Sunday morning.
“This has been a really hard decision and one that’s been a long time in the making,” Palmer said in a statement to The Advertiser.
“Ten acres is a lot of upkeep and as our work in the film industry takes us overseas and interstate, we’re only in Adelaide sporadically.”
Palmer said since buying the property, her family has grown “substantially” and they require a place with more bedrooms.
“While Adelaide will always be home, we’ll be based in Byron Bay for the next year as (husband and actor) Mark (Webber) develops his TV show set to film there,” she said.
“When we’re back in Adelaide, we’ll look for something ‘turnkey’ that better fits our on-the-go lifestyle.
“We are excited to see who takes on our beautiful property and to see it flourish with a new family.”
Announcing the sale on Instagram, the 38-year-old shared snapshots of sentimental memories from decades spent at the expansive property, which is up for sale by agent Ben Clarke from Williams.
“Every so often, a place becomes more than just a home” Palmer said
“It becomes a keeper of stories, a witness to generations of laughter, love and life.
“That’s what this sanctuary in Scott Creek, Adelaide Hills has been for us, a place where memories are not just made, but woven into the fabric of the land itself.”
Palmer moved to the old Rainbow Valley Camp with her family after her father bought the property more than 30 years ago.
The site would be transformed into “a more traditional home” by her stepmother and later bought by Palmer herself.
Palmer has raised her five children in the Scott Creek home.
“This place holds stories in every corner, woven through generations of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories,” she said.
“As we prepare to pass it on, we hope the next family feels the same magic we did – and begins their own legacy here.”
The property will be open for inspection yet again on Tuesday, November 12 at 5.30pm
