The 4.4 magnitude earthquake rocked Hawker at 5.18am and as of 9.30am, Geoscience Australia received 22 feltearth reports.

The quake struck 6km deep just southeast of the Hawker township and was felt to the west near Quorn and to the south at Orroroo.

It was the second quake in the area this week, with a 2.7 magnitude shake in the Flinders Ranges National Park recorded on February 4.

It comes almost a month after a magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit Hawker on January 11.

The quake struck 10 km deep and was felt by 172 people, according to Geoscience Australia.

Adelaide feels regular earthquakes and sits on several faults, including the Para Fault, running from Gawler, under the northern suburbs and under the CBD, and the Eden-Burnside Fault, which runs under the southern and eastern suburbs.

There is also the Willunga fault line, which snakes its way from the southern Adelaide Hills, west of the Mt Bold Reservoir, down through Willunga and out to Sellicks Beach.

There have been no reports of damage or serious injury.
