A controversial northeastern suburbs greengrocer has posted a video garnering half a million views driving over Yes referendum campaign posters.
On Sunday St Bernards Fruit and Veg Market social media account posted the video to both Instagram and Facebook.
The video, which has a combined viewership of just over 502,000 views, shows a car driving through a roundabout driving over a ‘Yes’ Voice referendum campaign poster.
The posts were captioned: “Oops easy daisy, I done myself a small detour (sic)”.
The social media accounts for the greengrocers are usually run by the stores owner Johnny Kapiris, who made headlines last year for a viral rant unleashing on supermarket chains for “jacking up their f***ing prices”.
The latest video received a mixed response, with some social media users applauding the greengrocer for posting the video commenting: “love your work, a true champion” while others condemned the actions of being of a “sad little man”.
Another user commented “I did that yesterday … wish I filmed it”.
The post caused one of Mr Kapiris’ followers to unfollow the St Bernards Fruit and Veg Market account.
“Amazing how pressed people are, literally feeling the need to broadcast their ignorance, over something that does not effect (sic) them whatsoever and is so important to so many,” the user commented.
“But not surprised as we still can’t change the date, and still fly a flag that doesn’t represent our population as a whole. Sad country we live in, always 5 steps behind.”
St Bernards Fruit and Veg Market has been run by Mr Kapiris and his wife Leannada for the past 13 years.
Mr Kapiris has been contacted for comment.
