A former reality TV star charged with the gruesome murder and dismemberment of her partner assaulted a police officer after her arrest, court documents allege, as a search for the victim’s missing head continues on land and at sea.
Former Beauty and the Geek contestant and Playboy model Tamika Chesser was last week charged with murder over the death of her Port Lincoln boyfriend Julian Story.
She was further charged with destroying his remains after allegedly setting them on fire in their home.
SES volunteers and SA Police officers remain in Port Lincoln searching for Mr Story’s missing head, with an ocean-based search launched just off the coast.
Ms Chesser remains in mental health custody and it has emerged her family had previously disclosed concerns for her psychological state.
Her sister has spoken out for the first time, revealing that her family held concerns for her mental health in recent times.
“It’s my sister but that’s not who she is or the Tamika we know - that’s not the Tamika anyone knows,” she told 9News.
“It just started getting worse, you know, and she started being in and out of mental health.
“She didn’t mention anything and she just told everyone that she loves them.
“It is very sad and I’m really sorry to Julian’s family”
Her sister told a media outlet Ms Chesser had experienced a “life of trauma and abuse” and “ … there is more to this story”.
SES volunteers have spent the weekend going through bushland and combing the waters for any trace of the 39-year-old.
The group took to social media to shout out the work of the team members during increasingly “difficult circumstances”.
“This has been an incredibly confronting and emotional time. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all Emergency Services who have responded with compassion and professionalism,” a post on Facebook read.
“Your quiet commitment behind the scenes plays a powerful role in supporting not just the investigation, but also the community as we come to terms with this tragedy.”
SA Police on Sunday confirmed they had not yet located any of Mr Story’s remains, with the search expected to continue across the coming days.
Court documents show that Ms Chesser, who remains in a forensic mental health facility, has now additionally been charged with assaulting an emergency services worker the day after she was arrested.
According to the documents, Ms Chesser allegedly assaulted a police officer “who was acting in the course of official duties” on June 20 – the day after she was found in a “catatonic and unresponsive state” at the back of her burning unit.
On June 19, emergency services were called to a unit on Flinders Hwy in the coastal town after her neighbour Jordan Ware noticed smoke coming from the building.
According to court documents, Mr Ware told police he’d seen Ms Chesser leave her home with her dogs, but when the smoke continued, he entered her unit through the back door and started dousing a “smouldering” pile with water.
That pile, it has since been revealed, was Mr Story’s remains.
Ms Chesser, who had turned to subscription-only site OnlyFans to sell adult content in recent years, appears to no longer be active on the platform.
However, it is unclear when her account was removed, or who removed it.
Speaking to media over the weekend, Port Lincoln Mayor Diana Mislov said Mr Story, who had grown up in the area, was well loved by the community.
“I know he loved his family deeply,” she said.
“I just want the community and everyone to understand that he was a human being that didn’t deserve this. He was much loved.”
Footage of Ms Chesser that emerged over the weekend shows her in various states around the town.
In one video, she is filmed in the ocean. Another shows her, now with a shaved head, behaving strangely at a venue.
CCTV vision released by police shows her walking around Port Lincoln dressed head to toe in black, including a black headscarf, with three dogs.
Police say the vision was captured after she had allegedly killed Mr Story.
Detectives are now pleading with anyone who knows either Ms Chesser or Mr Story to come forward with any relevant information as they work tirelessly to locate his missing head.
It is understood Ms Chesser has not communicated to police the location of the missing remains.
During her first court appearance, Ms Chesser was remanded in custody under a section 269x order – a form of detention that is ordered when there are investigations to be conducted into a defendant’s mental competence.
She remains in James Nash House and will return to court again in December.
