But fierce competition is brewing from cut-price rivals, Pizza Hut and Crust.
So is the most popular choice really the best?
The Sunday Herald Sun tested pizzas from the three leading brands — Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Crust, comparing the taste, texture and all important toppings.
Gourmet pizza makers Crust were clear favourites, taking out top points for flavour and — true to their name — were also awarded best crust. Our judges gave the slice 7/10 and 8/10.
But at $17 for a large pizza, they also come in at the most expensive.
Comparatively, Pizza Hut charged $12, while Domino’s came in at the bargain basement price of $5 — making it clear why the pizza maker’s were taking over.
Current pizza kings Domino’s came in second place with middle of the road scores: 5/10 and 5.5/10.
But the cheapest option still ranked above rivals, Pizza Hut, which scraped the bottom of the barrel scoring the lowest score of the bunch — 4/10 for what was described as a “soggy slice of pizza.”
