Police have charged a 24-year-old man with using the internet to procure a child under the age of 16.
Investigators allege on July 30, 2024, Michael Ross committed the crime within the Toowoomba District.
When the charge was mentioned before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 1, Mr Ross was represented by Solicitor Ryan McCullough.
Mr McCullough said it was the first time the charges had been mentioned before the court.
“Noting the nature of the charge (I’d be) seeking a brief of evidence with respect to this matter,” he said.
“I also flag I act for Mr Ross with respect to some other matters before the Port Macquarie Magistrate’s court.”
Magistrate Michelle Dooley ordered the brief of evidence to be ready by November 12 and scheduled the matter to next be heard before the court on November 26.
Ms Dooley enlarged Mr Ross’ bail.
