Police investigate Nambour stabbing as man fights for life

Police have launched a search for a suspect who fled the scene after a brutal stabbing in Nambour on Saturday night left a 30-year-old man fighting for life.

A violent altercation outside a Nambour business left a man with severe injuries on Saturday night, with police on Sunday urging anyone with information to come forward.
A 30-year-old Maroochy River man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition following the alleged stabbing in Nambour just before midnight.

Emergency services were called to a Currie St business at 11.27pm, where they found the man with wounds to his head, neck, and leg.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said on Sunday morning they were investigating the incident

“Investigations indicate the 30-year-old man sustained a number of puncture wounds after becoming involved in an altercation with an unknown man out the front of the business,” the spokeswoman said.

“The unknown man fled the scene before police arrival.

“No one has been charged and investigations are ongoing,” she said.
