He’s now bedridden and incontinent but Albert Edwin Pink’s past has caught up with him and he’s now also a convicted child sex offender.
The 83-year-old pleaded guilty in Maryborough District Court to six counts of indecent assault on females, one count of indecent treatment of children under 16, animal cruelty and common assault.
According to court documents, the charges relate to incidents several years ago in the Gladstone region.
While he was mobile at the time of the offending, he was now on a disability support pension and residing at an aged care facility where he was largely bedridden and incontinent.
He had multiple ongoing complex health issues, had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.
He was given a head sentence of 18 months in jail, wholly suspended for two and a half years.
Judge Terry Gardiner told him he should be ashamed of his offending, but said he was in extremely poor health.
“For those reasons the term of imprisonment will be suspended,” he said.
