An alleged Hells Angels associate accused of involvement in a Brisbane clandestine meth lab is seeking documents provided by the FBI to Australian law enforcement as part of Operation Ironside.

Schroder Alexander Lobb faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with producing schedule 1 drugs, along with other drugs and weapons charges.

He was one of three people charged after police raided a commercial-size clandestine laboratory in East Brisbane’s Didswith St in November 2021.

Police allege the lab was used for the production of methamphetamine and that they found seven handguns and assault rifles, $153,000 in cash and more than 4kg of heroin and 2kg of methamphetamine inside.

Nobody was in the lab when police kicked down the door, the court heard.

Lobb’s barrister Alastair McDougall made an application for disclosure to the court for numerous redacted documents held by police.

The court heard the lab had been under surveillance for six weeks by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission prior to the raid.

Mr McDougall said he was seeking the information that the FBI had provided to the Australian Federal Police about Operation Ironside, which was mentioned in the crime scene warrant relating to his client.

Operation Ironside made headlines in 2021 after hundreds of arrests stemming from the use of encrypted phone application AN0M by alleged criminals.

AN0M had been secretly developed by the FBI and AFP, who could then read messages that were being sent on what was thought to be a secure communication platform.

In an affidavit tendered in court an AFP officer said no information had been provided to Queensland Police Service from Operation Ironside about the drug lab.

However Mr McDougall said that could not be correct.

“The prosecution has previously published the fact that this was an Operation Ironside investigation. So respectfully, that should not maintain a redaction,” he said.

The matter was adjourned to a later date.
