A teen accused of assaulting a Brisbane homeowner defending his property during an attempted robbery and later boasting about how he “chinned” the “c**t” on a livestream was on Children’s Court bail at the time.
The 18-year-old was dragged before Brisbane Magistrates Court after a police pursuit which allegedly saw the teen hang out the window of a stolen car and swing golf clubs at passing cars and balls at police vehicles on Sandgate Road, Clayfield, on Thursday.
Police will allege the offending began May 1 when the teenager and others arrived in a stolen Mazda at an address in Moorooka which was broken into and car keys stolen.
Police prosecutor Eddie Fraser said the occupant woke during the episode and rushed outside to see his Audi RS3 being stolen.
Mr Fraser said as the man intervened he was then allegedly set upon by the teenager who jumped out of the other car and then later boasted about delivering a beating on Instagram to his followers.
“(He said) I was like oi c**t get the f**k off my mate c**t. He was clueless mate and I just chinned him twice bruh. It was like boom boom and the c**t started bleeding out of his mouth,” Mr Fraser said, recounting the youth’s words.
“The offending is brazen …not only is he a danger to this victim but his insolent attitude and displays of grandeur live streaming these offences are a significant concern.”
Mr Fraser said he was on bail at the time for similar offences allegedly committed as a child after turning 18 just a month ago.
The court heard that after the Moorooka incident the same stolen car T-boned another vehicle causing it to roll and injure the driver. .
Police will allege the stolen car was then spotted in Sunnybank Hills yesterday prompting Polair to start tracking the vehicle which was driven to Moorooka where police used road spikes.
Police will allege they were then led on a slow speed pursuit where the teenager was seen throwing golf balls at police vehicles travelling behind.
Police will allege he also hung out the window and swung a golf club at passing vehicles down Sandgate Rd.
Police were able to box the vehicle in on Wagner Road Clayfield and arrest the six occupants.
The teenager’s Legal Aid lawyer said her client had been in state care since the day he was born and had been placed with 28 different foster carers as a child and lived in 40 different residential care facilities.
“I’m instructed that on his 18th birthday he was asked by child safety to leave the residential facility which has then left him homeless,” she said.
“Unfortunately on my instructions due to the downfall in the supports that are offered by our child safety system he was not provided with assistance to obtain any emergency accommodation, or also get himself onto Centrelink.”
She said her client would be contesting the golf club and ball allegations and the attempted robbery of the Audi.
Magistrate Elizabeth Hall said she understood he was just 18 but there was a strong case against him for committing “very serious offences”.
“That really present a danger to other citizens. Either citizens in public or in their own home,” she said.
Bail was refused and the case adjourned.
