New Queensland Premier David Crisafulli says he has begun considering the make up of his frontbench, with plans for the Ministry to be sworn in by the end of the week.

Mr Crisafulli was sworn in as the state’s 41st Premier on Monday morning, and said cabinet would meet next week as the LNP forges ahead with being at the helm of Queensland for the first time in a decade.

Upon leaving Government House, Mr Crisafulli said he would resume bedding down the structure of departments with his interim top bureaucrat David Mackie.

“The people who you have seen and who have done a really good job, will be the people who you see and will be rewarded,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“And just one other thing to clear it up, that senior leadership team that’s done the job and worked really hard, will continue to be that senior leadership team.”

The state’s new Deputy Premier is Jarrod Bleijie.

The pair met with Queensland Governor Dr Jeannette Young at Government House on Monday morning.

On Monday afternoon Mr Crisafulli told the public service he will not be repeating the mistakes of the previous LNP administration in his first official correspondence in the top job.

In an email sent out to the state’s 250,000 public servants, Mr Crisafulli said they could expect a shake-up of departmental leadership and structure.

But he asserted, in no uncertain terms, that scare campaigns on job cuts were baseless.

“There will be no employment cuts to the public service workforce,” he said.

“Any views you may have heard otherwise, are completely untrue. Having seen the impact of job losses in the past on the productivity and morale of the public service, I will not be repeating those actions.

“It is vital we invest in the strengths and capability of the public service so it can address the future needs of this state.”

Mr Crisafulli also said he was “extremely aware” that government needed to work effectively in partnership with the public service.

“An empowered public service is one that practices values of integrity, respect and wellbeing, frank and fearless advice, security of tenure, and learning and development,” he said.

“A strong and stable public sector, creates a strong and stable Queensland.

“I will be tasking Ministers to have greater visibility in the departments they lead, including spending time in offices outside 1 William Street.”

Mr Crisafulli said he was excited about what was ahead.

It comes after Mr Crisafulli on Sunday terminated the tenure of Queensland’s top bureaucrat Mike Kaiser.

Labor-aligned director-general Mr Kaiser was sacked in favour of independent Public Sector Commissioner Mr Mackie.

Mr Mackie was named acting director-general of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, although his appointment is tipped to become permanent.
