Emergency services rush to Glasshouse Mountains

Bystanders have come to the aid of man who needed CPR and first aid on a popular Sunshine Coast hinterland mountain track.

Emergency crews have rescued a man who suffered a suspected medical episode on a popular Sunshine Coast mountain.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the Ngungun summit track, responding to the emergency on one of the mountain tracks.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said they received the call at 10.30am and were sending three crews and a special officer preparing for a mountain rescue.

QFD special officer Brian Riley said there was a man about 200m onto the walking track when he had a medical condition, “possibly from a fall”.

“Bystanders rendered first aid and CPR was performed,” he said.

“He was extracted from the mountain with assistance from QFD from Beerwah, Caloundra South and Maroochydore.

“He was taken to the lower car park and transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.”

Mr Riley said there were no other apparent injuries at this stage and the man would be examined at the hospital.
