A driver has brought down ten spans of powerline in a horror North Queensland crash which cut power to 250 homes.

A man has had a close call after his ute rolled over and smashed into a power pole bringing down ten spans of powerline yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the single vehicle crash at around 5.20pm on Bootooloo Rd in Bowen on Sunday.
The male driver can be seen reaching out of the flipped ute before fire rescue crews were able to free the man without having to use cutting equipment.
He was taken to Bowen Hospital in a stable condition.
Power was brought down to 250 homes and businesses with all but 25 switched back on at 8.20pm.
Power is expected to be restored to all customers at some time today.
Bootooloo Rd is also the scene of a fatal alleged hit and run in July.
Missing DNA results are holding up the case against a Bowen man Joel Mark Wayne, accused of running down a cyclist, 69, and fleeing the scene.
He has been charged with being behind the wheel and not rendering assistance when the fatal incident occurred on July 25, 2024, along with a string of other offences in the days before and after the incident.
