Crane’s eye view over Melbourne

IF location is everything, crane operator Pino Niccoli’s workplace really is top of the pile. Our photographer David Caird tags along to capture the breathtaking views across the city and bay atop the 75-level Victoria One apartment tower.

THESE are the views that residents of Melbourne’s newest high-rise apartments will enjoy as the tallest residential tower in the CBD soars into the clouds at 246m high.

The Elenberg Fraser-designed skyscraper sits on the former Drummond Golf site at the corner of Elizabeth and Franklin streets.

Probuild’s project manager for Victoria One Guy Chipperfield said the core of the building was complete and the final concrete pour would be in October with a completion date of June, 2018.

The project for developer Golden Age has 645 apartments, an indoor pool, gym, private dining and living spaces, and a club lounge for residents of the top eight floors.
