JOBE Watson may have given back his Brownlow Medal but he still has plenty to smile about. His New York-based model girlfriend is set to arrive Down Under early next year.

Tim Watson says he thinks son Jobe is in love

BY Jobe, former Bomber captain JOBE WATSON might have given back the 2012 Brownlow Medal today — but he still has plenty to smile about.

Watson’s New York-based model girlfriend VIRGINIA SLAGHEKKE is set to arrive Down Under early in the New Year, and will call Melbourne home.

It will be fresh beginnings all around. Watson is keen to kickstart his career on the field after a recent sojourn to the Big Apple to clear his head where he met Slaghekke.

Beauty and brains, the successful fashion model and neurobiology student grew up in the Netherlands.

She was “discovered” as a model at the age of 13 while out for her grandmother’s birthday dinner in a small town.

“I had just got my braces two weeks before that and was feeling anything but pretty,” she told Modellist.

Like Watson, she has taken time out of her hectic schedule to find herself and said living in New York “helped me figure out who I am”.

The pre-med student said she was recently accepted into the Australia exchange program.

She has the blessings of Watson’s tight-knit family. Jobe’s three sisters, BILLIE, TESS and GRACE, who recently married with Slaghekke attending her Bali nuptials, have all said they can’t wait for her to move to Melbourne.

And dad, former Essendon great Tim Watson, said on Channel 7 tonight he thinks Jobe may be in love (see the video above).
