Outages affecting Optus customers have extended into a second day with furious customers demanding answers from the telco.
Livid users have been reporting issues with the company’s services since 12:30pm yesterday as some were left unable to access some websites, apps and online services such as Netflix, Xbox Live and online PlayStation.
But an Optus spokesman at midday today said they believed access was “continuing to stabilise”.
“Our team are working hard to investigate any reports of intermittent issues. If you need help with your account or services please DM us so we can assist. Next update @ 2:00pm AEST,” it tweeted.
It follows the 10am update, when Optus said they believed access had been restored to the “majority of sites and applications”, although some customers were experiencing “intermittent issues.”
Updates had been few and far between from Optus, which despite issues first arising about midday yesterday only posted its first tweet to customers at 5:33pm last night.
There had been no updates from Optus early this morning on when the issues might be resolved.
One man wrote on Twitter: “Around 11 hours after the last update @optus and still no Netflix. I’m hoping things get fix before this afternoon.”
Another replied to Optus’ last Twitter update at 7.21pm last night: “Our websites are still not working with Optusnet customers. Causing us a bit of a stir with some customers! We’re also in a middle of a marketing campaign so this is costing us money!”
I rely on internet for work. I went to bed assuming all would be good in the morning ... itâs not. Now I have to get up super early to go into work, to complete the daily covers.not good enough @Optus

Sandringham resident, Peter Adshead, 23, said the outages had been affecting him and his brothers since about midday yesterday.
“It has affected my mobile data and home Wi-Fi network,” he told the Herald Sun.
“It’s going so slow a lot of internet pages won’t even load.”
The intermittent outages could have been going on for longer than first thought - a customer on Eyre Peninsula, west of Adelaide, has reported having no internet or phone access since Saturday night.
Optus couldn’t say how many people had been affected.
“We encourage Optus customers affected to contact our customer care team on 1300 300 937 to discuss their specific circumstances,” a spokesman said.
“Compensation requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.”
