Too many people are cowed into silence on radical gender theory by the activist media

The meltdown over NRL and All Blacks legend Sonny Bill Williams sharing a tweet highlights the bullying and self-censorship of the leftist media.

The activist media have helped create a climate of bullying and self-censorship for anyone stating factual, mainstream views on radical gender theory.

Some high-profile folk can withstand the faux outrage, but too many are cowed into silence or backtrack at the first hint of a backlash.

The latest victim of a media-led controversy is football legend Sonny Bill Williams, who was labelled “transphobic” for endorsing a viewpoint that must be shared by at least 90 per cent of the public: that children should not be transitioned just because they don’t conform to tired old gender stereotypes, you know, the ones we thought we left behind in the 1950s.

Williams caused a meltdown among the leftist media for backing a tweet by Dr Anastasia Maria Loupis, who had posted “from ages 4-12 I wore boys’ clothes, played boy sports and rejected all thing ‘girly’ … I was not transgender, I just idolised my brother. Thank God my parents were sane”.

Sadly, there are increasing numbers of children not so lucky. Earlier this year I interviewed a courageous young woman, Chloe Cole, who at just 13 was given powerful drugs to become a boy, at 15 had both her healthy breasts removed, and who is now 18 and suing the doctors who have left her with lifelong medical issues.

She’s not alone, but “detransitioners” are also subject to abuse from the activists. Keira Bell, whose case went all the way to the High Court in Britain, is another young woman who has copped awful abuse for warning children about the dangers of puberty blockers, testosterone treatment and irreversible surgeries.

You might think it fanciful that any professional would seriously suggest that being a tomboy, having preferences for certain clothes or toys or hairstyles means that a child is transgender.

Well think again – it’s an opinion shared by a worrying number of activist doctors, including director of Boston Children’s Hospital Gender Management Service Dr Jeremi Carswell, who claims “playing with opposite-gender toys” or “refusing to get a haircut” or “trying on siblings’ clothing” are all indicators that a child is trans. And that children as young as toddlers know that they are transgender.

But that warped view is not controversial, according to the bulk of the media. It’s those who question this ideology who are called bigots and condemned.

And, so after Monday’s media storm, Williams deleted his tweet. Another voice shamed into silence.
