Rita Panahi: Health bureaucrats too scared of trans activists to answer simple question

Australian health officals have no qualms about imposing draconian restrictions to prevent the spread of a virus, but they are too scared to tell you what a woman is.

Simple question 'a child could answer' leaves Department of Health Secretary 'dumbfounded'

Don’t for a second think that gender theory absurdity is an exclusively US or UK problem.

On Wednesday we had highly educated, highly remunerated bureaucrats from the Department of Health, who have wielded enormous power over all our lives, unable to answer the simplest of questions for fear of offending trans gender activists.

Liberal Senator Alex Antic posed the question ‘what is a woman’ to highly credentialed taxpayer funded experts, including Health Secretary Professor Brendan Murphy, during Senate Estimates.

The experts opted to embarrass themselves rather than answer the question and risk offending trans activists.

Australia’s top health bureaucrat, the former Chief Medical Officer of the country, Prof Murphy gave this response: “Look, I think there are a variety of definitions…I think perhaps to give a more fulsome answer we should take that on notice.”

Senator Antic responded: “You’re going to take on notice the question of what a woman is?”

Prof Murphy: “No, well there (is) a variety – it’s a very, it’s a very … it’s a very contested space at the moment, Senator.”

These health bureaucrats whose advice we are supposed to uncritically follow had no qualms about imposing draconian restrictions like closing Australia’s borders, even to Australian citizens, to prevent the spread of a virus but they are too scared to tell you what a woman is.

Dr Brendan Murphy was unable to define what a 'woman' is in Senate Estimates.

A question a child could answer.

We saw in the US, a couple of weeks ago, Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson also too terrified to answer this simple question.

She said she couldn’t answer the question because she was “not a biologist”.

So now you need to be a biologist to know what a woman is?

Hmm, doesn’t that suggest one’s gender is determined by biology and not feelings?

And, last week in the UK Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer refused to say whether women have penises.

Meanwhile, Labour frontbenchers Yvette Cooper and Anneliese Dodds failed to define what a woman is even when waxing lyrical about the importance of International Women’s Day.

No longer can we pretend that the influence of this insidious ideology is only evident in the UK and US, it has taken hold in this country to such an extent that senior health bureaucrats are too scared to answer the question, ‘what is a woman.’

For the record the answer is straightforward, as the dictionary states, a woman is “an adult female human being.” Giving that answer should not be controversial.

DISNEY PUSHING RADICAL GENDER IDEOLOGY TO KIDS

The Left’s war on reality is manifesting in increasingly disturbing ways including a preoccupation with indoctrinating, some would say grooming, impressionable preschoolers. Disney’s reaction to a parental rights bill in Florida has been nothing short of unhinged.
