Jeff Kennett: Hard work amounts to little in Albanese’s Australia

With its abandonment of stage-three tax cuts, the Albanese government has shown it cannot be trusted on matters that attack middle-income earners.

‘How can we trust you?’: Sky News host slams PM's 'incompetence' over tax cut changes

So the federal government has walked away from the three-stage reform of our tax system that would have incentivised individuals to work harder and recognised bracket creep penalised those who did work harder.

The move has sent a message that the federal government cannot be trusted on matters that attack middle-income earners.

Our superannuation has already been attacked, land tax is forcing many to sell the beach houses they worked hard to purchase for their families, and now, low and behold we are going to be the only country in the world where federal Labor is going to tax unrealised gains on the assets people hold.

A nightmare in administration, but a huge win for accountants and lawyers.

But realise Labor federal and state governments are about bleeding Middle Australia to the point of no return.

That said, I support letting the government’s changes to stage 3 of the tax reforms through the parliament.

If advising the opposition, I would say that if elected we would complete the reintroduction of stage 3 in full, then start the biggest, almighty campaign on how Labor, through mismanagement, is sucking the life out of middle working-class Australians.

Get angry before your hard work will amount to little or nothing!
