Jeff Kennett: Attacking Peter Dutton’s wealth shows Labor is out of ideas
If we only had prime ministers and premiers in Victoria who had an ounce of commercial experience and success like Peter Dutton, we might not be in the terrible position we now find ourselves in.

The Labor Party’s continual attack on Peter Dutton, and his wealth, after years of policing, running a business, investing in shares and property, is an indication how bereft the ALP is of creative ideas.
Isn’t the current housing debate an indication everyone wants to own their own home and more. An investment property or holiday home. That’s aspiration!
I was pleased when I read the Prime Minister had with his partner purchased a beach house of value.
Just a pity many in the Labor Party seem to be jealous of aspiration and success. If we only had prime ministers and premiers in Victoria who had an ounce of commercial experience and success like Peter Dutton, we might not be in the terrible position we now find Victoria in particular.
As we get closer to the federal election, can I reinforce the desirability of the elected government being elected with sufficient number to form government in its own right.
Because of the speed of change I mentioned above, and the need for our government to react quickly, whether it be Coalition or Labor, the thought of a hung parliament is frightening.
The Teals, who now call themselves Independents are a luxury we cannot afford. The two in Victoria have had no influence on policy outcomes at all. The one in my electorate of Kooyong has on the vast majority of times voted with the Greens and is a Green by any definition.
The Greens themselves are divisive, dangerous and at time of lawless. No longer a force for the environment, conservation, or climate.
If the ALP and Coalition are serious both parties would put the Greens last on their ballot paper. Of course, I believe the country would be better off with a Coalition government, but I would rather see a Labor member elected than a Green or Teal. Australia increasingly needs a strong government, which is economically conservative and socially liberal.
Bring on the start to AFL football so we can all get some relief from the issues of the day.
